ice President of Outreach and Development is an officer position with Urban Ed. The successful candidate is responsible for overseeing the outreach, marketing, and fundraising activities for the organization. He/she will:

  • Lead fund development, media relations, outreach, local/national events, and assure the market position of Urban Ed in accord to the mission and objectives.


  • Develop ongoing financial support for carrying out Urban Ed’s objectives and purposes.


  • Establish partnerships and relationships with corporation and the general public for Urban Ed and the communities we serve.


  • Direct the market position of Urban Ed and maintain media relations for the growth and sustainability of the organization.


  • Coordinate, produce, or edit all external materials produced by Urban Ed and all internal and external promotional events.



  • The successful candidate will have leadership experience in creating, communicating, and implementing an overall fundraising strategy and plan. In-depth experience in developing a base of new donors, cultivating and soliciting major gifts, annual fund, and foundation and corporate relations are must-haves for this position. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial and creative, highly organized, results oriented, and must be an outstanding communicator. The VP will report to the president of Urban Ed.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
    The VP of Outreach and Development should have five years development and outreach experience, be a proven fundraiser and successful in building partnerships and relationships with corporations, foundations and the general public. A passion for teamwork and a fun spirit are essential attributes. Experience and contacts in the District of Columbia helpful but not required.
