For those of us now working in a stable job, think about what it felt like to secure that first job at the beginning of your path for independence. To go to college or get some skills and feel confident that you could take on the "real world"; transformed your life forever and set the stage for ongoing sustainability. Within our communities, many of our young people lack the skills to be competitive in the job market because we have truancy rates of 49%. Many of our young people lack the resources to attend college or take high end professional development training because they live in poverty. Urban Ed, Inc. works to transform disenfranchised youth and young adults between the ages of 16-24 into high-performing, well-paid members of the technology workforce by helping them gain lifelong employability skills for high demand occupations found throughout the DC region.
