  • Claudia Askew, Chair
    Claudia Askew is a communications consultant with more than 20 years of experience in public relations and marketing communications. Claudia specializes in the affordable housing/community development field and also has considerable experience in healthcare-related communications. Previously, Claudia was associate vice president at the public relations agency Matthews Media Group and a senior member of the communications staff at Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation (now NeighborWorks® America). She also worked for the American Healthcare Association and the American Psychological Association. Claudia served as a founding board member of Suited for Change, is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and serves on the board of the Independent Public Relations Alliance. Claudia earned a bachelor's degree in Speech Communication from Wake Forest University.

  • Torin Ellis, Secretary
    Torin Ellis, is the President and Founder of Second Motive, LLC., a professional recruitment and talent development firm. His day to day focus is on securing employment for sales and sales management talent in a variety of high impact industries. With more than 20 years of progressively responsible experience, Torin has directed military troops and technology focused sales teams in world-class companies like MCI, Union Pacific and the United States Air Force. He has most recently led three successful companies through start-up, survival, turnaround from failure, and/or growth. Torin also serves on the Board of Directors of Community Law in Action (CLIA) and Power Excel.

  • Hilary Gambale
    Hilary Gambale is a project manager for CLMS, LLC, a service disabled and veteran owned IT firm headquartered in Arlington, Virginia. She currently manages a $3 million contract at the Department of Homeland Security. Hilary is a Project Management Professional (PMP) with more than 16 years of experience developing, implementing and managing complex IT solutions for executive branch government agencies, including the Resolution Trust Corporation, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Department of Transportation, and Inter-American Development Bank. Prior to consulting, she worked in the education arena and received her MBA from George Washington University.

  • Desirée A. Knight
    Desirée A. Knight, CMP, CMMM has more than 20 years of meeting planning experience managing logistics, budgets, staff and program development in the association, nonprofit and private sectors. She has planned and managed events from small board meetings to large international conferences and trade shows. Her unique style, level of professionalism and fanatic attention to detail ensure success for any event. Desirée is a graduate of West Los Angeles College. She obtained her certified meeting planner designation in 2006 and she also became a certified medical meeting manager in 2009. Desirée currently sits on two other boards, the Baltimore City Advisory Board and Salt Lake City Advisory Board.

  • Victoria Weaver
    Victoria Weaver is currently president of ALTOR Technology Solutions, LLC, a technology and management consulting services firm that provides solutions for corporations, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, foundations and educational institutions. She brings over 20 years of technology, leadership, and management consultation experience. Prior to consulting, Victoria previously served as a senior manager for The Washington Post directing technology operations and strategic sourcing efforts within the corporate office. Her expertise lies within strategic and tactical planning, enterprise infrastructures, policy and procedure standards, service level management, corporate governance, and service delivery operations.

  • Roxanne J. Williams
    Roxanne J. Williams is the founder and president of Urban Ed, Inc. At the Center for Community Change, she was the Director of Lifting New Voices, a youth organizing project that worked to build the capacity and leadership of young people to create social change. Roxanne was also a part of the Center's Organizational Development staff, providing technical assistance to nonprofits throughout the country. Roxanne has worked for a government/government sponsored agencies such as the U.S. Department of Commerce and NeighborWorks, an independent housing and community development corporation. She has also served on the board of the national Girl Scouts and was a Salzburg Fellow in International Youth and Community Development (Austria).

In addition to a board of directors, the program is strongly supported and guided by an advisory committee of representatives from the Fortune 500 corporations, small and mid-size businesses and educational institutions.

We are in the process of reorganizing our advisory committee and seek new members from the corporate arena. If you are interested please give us a call.
