![]() For Teens, Urban Ed has implemented a fresh new approach in response to the voice of teens throughout the city and particularly youth from our wards. Based on national best practices our TechnoAcademy provides our core business and technical skills development but has formally added leadership development and academic support to our teens. Our program is a year round model moving teens to self-sufficiency. We are one of five organizations selected to be a key referral source for our city's teens most in need of a positive, safe environment to grow and identify their career and educational path. For the little children ages 4-8 (the "Lil Bitties"), the TechnoCamp provides them enrichment in major school subjects to help them advance and stay ahead as opposed to falling behind. We use technology to inspire the children and reinforce their school experience in the areas of Math, Language Arts, Art and Computer Science. For the summer 2010, Urban Ed developed our approaches into a curriculum that is now aligned with academic school standards. Lots of fun while learning, the program is led by teens which is a bold and creative approach to building leadership skills among older youth while enriching younger children.
