TechnoAcademy is an out-of-school (OST) time enrichment and business leadership preparation program serving children and teens. In 2011, Urban Ed will be renewing our DCPS partnership to continue to offer our programs at our community technology center located in downtown Anacostia. Our quarterly detailed calendar of our OST activities will be coming soon.
We are accepting applications for our Teen TechnoAcademy on an ongoing basis. Generally, the OST program operates between the hours of 4:00 - 8:00 pm during the school year and between 9:30 am - 4:00 pm during the summer.
For Teens, Urban Ed has implemented a fresh new approach in response to the voice of youth throughout the city and particularly teens from our wards. Based on national best practices our TechnoAcademy provides our core business and technical skills development but has formally added leadership development and academic support to our teens. Our program is a year round model moving teens toward changing risky behaviors, staying in school and graduating. We are one of three organizations selected to be a key referral source for the city's teens diversion program. Through this initiative
more disadvantaged youth are penetrating technical careers and academic IT programs. Youth are making better decisions, valuing school and improving grades! Seating is limited.
